KMDC has been granted funds by the Professional Services Development Assistance Scheme (PSDAS) of the HKSAR Government to organize this event. KMDC GRAND LAUNCH EVENT

KMDC held its official launch on 3 December 2004 at the Senior Officers' Mess, Hong Kong Police Headquarters. Celebrating this occasion three prominent KM practitioners shared the experience and achievement of applying KM in the disciplinary force, NGO and the commercial sector respectively. Over a hundred members and guests from different sectors and trades attended this grand event. Organizations that have sent representatives included Hong Kong Police, Hospital Authority, Hong Kong Post, Accenture, IBM, HP, Oracle, Bausch & Lomb, SAS, Bossini, Cafe de Coral, CitySuper, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Town Gas, HK Polytechnic University, City University of HK and many others.

The Centre wishes to express great thanks to all the participating organizations, members and friends for their kind presence and support. KMDC also wishes to express its appreciation to Mr. Charles Wong, Assistant Commissioner of Police, for providing the nostalgic venue and his keynote speech. Knowledge Management Seminar Series

For the coming 4 months (from Dec 2004 to Mar 2005), KMDC and Policy 21 Ltd of The University of Hong Kong (P21-HKU) will organize a series of seminars on KM topics such as Benchmarking & Best Practice, Peer Assist & After Action Review, Document Management System, KM Portal KM Implementation and Innovation, Customer Knowledge Management, Action Learning, e-learning, KM Measurement……

KMDC GRAND LAUNCH EVENT

Thanks for joining and supporting the events organized by KMDC in the past. This year, KMDC has developed from an informal community of practice (CoP) into a legal entity. We are now formally called as Knowledge Management Development Centre Limited, a charitable and independent professional body. The new KMDC can organize training programmes and KM conferences independently. We can also apply for government funding to promote KM in Hong Kong.

To formally mark a new page of KM in Hong Kong and to promote KMDC to the local business community, the Executive Committee cordially invites you and other honourable guests to attend a launching event on the 3rd December, 2004, which will be held at the Senior Officers' Mess of Police Headquarter. That evening, we will invite three speakers from different sectors, to share their vision and experience on KM practice. Preferential Rate for KMDC Members for this year's Knowledge Management Conference

The annual Knowledge Management conference hosted by the Hong Kong Knowledge Management Society (HKKMS) is coming up soon: on 18th and 19th of November 2004. As supporting organization of the conference, we are pleased to invite you to this event to learn about leading edge knowledge management practices and developments. With more than 20 local and international Knowledge Management speakers, you will meet and discuss hot topics with industry experts and practitioners who will share their insights with you.

This year, the HKKMS has obtained funding from the HKSAR Government's Professional Service Department Assistance Program (PSDAS), which has helped us take a closer look at the competitive strength of knowledge-based economies and discuss strategies of both the private and public sectors. In addition, they have invited international experts from OECD, EU and other bodies to discuss the challenges of knowledge-based companies in the Asia Pacific region, including areas like research and development capabilities, intellectual property issues, corporate governance and knowledge-based business strategies.

Experience Sharing on KM well received by KMDC members and guests.

About 50 participants spent a worth while evening with KMDC during the Experience Sharing Session featuring presentations on KM in Product Development and Experience Sharing for Capturing & Utilising Lessons-learnt in Large Scale Projects. KMDC would like to thank Mr. Trevor Lui of Hong Kong Productivity Council and Mr. Lewis Tang from the the Asia Pacific Office of Fedex for sharing their project experiences. The first 40 persons who enrol as the member and to attend the launch (i.e. cheque cleared or payment receipt received) will receive a full-coloured creativity (also part of KM) book co-authored by Alfred Ho, one of the founders of the ‘old’ KMDC and now still an Exco member.
To enrol as the member, please refer to www.kmdc.org for the application form and instruction. You can pay the membership fees during the event. However, the order of payment determines the order of the first 40 persons.
As an extra bonus, the full annual membership ($300) will cover the membership period until end of 2005 for the first year. That is a 5-month membership bonus if enrol now!

Knowledge Management Diploma Graduation, Year 2004' (3rd In-take)

On February 28, 2004, fourteen Knowledge Management Diploma participants have presented their final projects in front of the Diploma Program advisors, speakers and guests. This KM program, the first of its kind in Hong Kong pioneering into the leading edge, was first launched in 2002. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and Policy 21 Limited of the University of Hong Kong, and supported by the Knowledge Management Development Community, the Program has attracted over sixty participants in three in-takes. Participants were awarded a diploma upon attaining minimum 75% class attendance in five modules totaling sixty hours and achieving passing score on the final project. Though the Program participants were exposed to a wide spectrum of concepts and best practices of KM, and through undertaking the company-based final project, they also gained hands-on experience applying what they have learned.
