About the seminar:

The transfer of information technology (IT) functions from a client organization to vendor organization(s), known as IT outsourcing, is of management concern because of the benefits and risks associated with knowledge gain / loss as a result of outsourcing. This seminar offers an opportunity to understand issues involved in making IT outsourcing decisions and learn how to manage knowledge from different organizational perspectives.

Programme:

Session 1: How IT Outsourcing Works for You
Mr Andy Lau of I-Consulting Group will explain how vendors deliver real benefits to client organizations –
not just about reducing costs and optimizing IT performance, but also addressing customers' concern on knowledge retention and business value realization.

Session 2: Best Practices in IT Outsourcing and Contract Management
Mr Andrew Ling of Bossini will share his experience and best practices from a client’s perspective in handling IT outsourcing and contract management. He will highlight key success factors in IT outsourcing and what best practices should be put in place in developing an outsourcing contract.


Tea break

Session 3: Developments on IT Outsourcing and Impacts on Knowledge Retention
Dr Louis Ma of the City University of Hong Kong will highlight the latest trends in IT Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) across the globe and share his insights on how ITO and BPO may affect knowledge retention in an organization and best practices in embarking on the ITO/BPO journey.

About the Speakers:

Mr Andy Lau is the Chief Executive Officer & Founder of the I-Consulting Group (ICG), a premier IT outsourcing and consulting company dedicated to provide quality IT solutions for all types of industries across Asia Pacific and Europe. Mr Andrew Ling is the Director of Information Technology and Supply Chain of Bossini Group and is responsible for the overall strategic IT planning, IT service, project execution, process improvement and warehouse and supply chain management for Bossini Group. In recognition of Mr Ling’s outstanding achievements in the use of IT, he was awarded the CIO 100 Honouree in 2008 by CIO Asia, the winner of AllStar Awards in 2006 by NetworkworldAsia, and the winner of MIS Asia IT Excellence Awards in 2005 by MIS Asia.

Dr Louis Ma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems of the City University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the UGC Task Force, a Fellow and Council Member of the Hong Kong Computer Society and a former member of HKSAR’s Election Committee. With 30 years of experience in information systems development, management, consulting and IT education, Dr Ma’s teaching, research and consulting interests are in IS policy and strategy, project management and outsourcing, e-markets, business transformation and IS education.
